5th class had a busy and wonderful October.
Ms.Corr’s girls have settled into 6th class so well & they have been enjoying their Friday afternoon Art lessons. Happy Halloween to all of the girls & their families.
Pictures of some our classes on their “Walkathon”. A big thank you for all of the support we received from our families, friends and neighbours towards our school fundraiser.
5th class have been extremely busy working on their biodiversity projects under the theme of ‘Bandon’s Biodiversity – Your Wish for the Future’.
The pupils really enjoyed learning about biodiversity. They submitted their projects to “BEAG” (Bandon Environmental Action Group) and are excited that some of their projects will be on display in Bandon Library.
Day 3 of our painting was Wednesday, we are almost complete !! It is wonderful to see the whole school involvement and to see the children enjoying the painting. Well done to everyone involved.
Day 2 – Splendid painting done on Tuesday, even the cat joined in saying “That’s purr-fect!”
Our whole school mural has begun. Watch this space during the week to see the project developing. Lovely to have Deirdre Crowley, local artist and past pupil leading the mural.
Ms Desmond and Ms Dullea’s classes had a super field trip on Friday planting trees. They planted oak, alder, spruce and hazelnut saplings. They were rewarded for all their hard work with some tasty treats afterwards! A big ‘Thank You’ to Gary and Brigid Doherty for facilitating this wonderful experience for the girls.
February was International Friendship Month and we celebrated it throughout our school, dedicating the week of the 14th February to Friendship Week. Lots of activities took place throughout the school culminating in a collection for Special Olympics, a well deserving organisation that promotes friendship for those with intellectual disabilities.
Ms Waugh’s 5th/6th class were busy making a display for friendship week using confetti listed with ways of showing kindness. They also created their own friendship crosswords and gave them to friends to complete. Many of the poets in the class created some interesting FRIEND acrostic poems.
6th Class were busy during friendship week building lasting connections through the medium of paint.
First Class were busy spreading friendship around too and they enjoyed logging it each day on their individual sheets. They had a great time in the hall playing friendship games , sharing information and facts about themselves that the others may not have known. They worked really hard too in the yard ensuring that everyone had a friend to play with at break time.
